Really solid Chinese food spot.
Had the Sesame Seed chicken, great flavor and taste. Huge portion size, could barely finish the whole thing and was full for a WHILE.
Price was a little expensive, but you definitely get your money's worth in terms of portion size. -

We have lived in Michigan for 11 years and have struggled to find decent Chinese food until now. We had hot and sour soup that was so good. I had Sczehuan chicken and my husband had moo sho pork. Both were great. The veggies were cooked perfectly and the sauces were just right, not the corn starch goo that you get at other Chinese restaurants here in Michigan. I'm so happy that we found this place!

I've been meaning to try this place and I do concur with the majority that it is delicious. My go to item for Americanized Chinese food is always: Mongolian beef, egg roll, crab rangoons and wonton soup. Of course, being this was my first time here, I ordered my usual. It really helps me get a better perspective of the place..lol.
I ordered the Mongolian beef dinner combination and the portion size was definitely generous; enough for 2 people. The Mongolian beef tasted clean with a slight gravy texture with a little bite from the spice. The egg roll had a nice flavor even though the fillings wasn't anything special. The crab rangoons were also delicious but I did wish it was filled a little more. The only thing that was slightly disappointing was that the wonton soup didn't come with the crisp wonton strips but included saltine crackers instead.
Overall, I could definitely agree and understand why people enjoy this restaurant. The food tastes fresh and is delicious.
Lastly, you can order chili oil for $0.30 if you like to add extra spice to your food -

I've only eaten here once, and it was Christmas dinner 2017. You see, I had put a kibosh on having any family over for the holiday this past year because well frankly I was just too damn tired of cooking and entertaining for both sides of my family. I wanted to just spend some quality time with my kids and husband, in the quiet (or as quiet as it can be with 5 kids- lol) of our own home. I had no plans of even cooking for my own family. We decided we would patronize local restaurants that were open that day. With that said, this place was open and I was excited to try it because I had heard such good things. I called in our carry out around 4pm and ordered a bunch of things off the menu. Combination plates, soup, dinner rolls and fried won tons. These are the usual suspects I tend to order at any Chinese restaurant, so I wasn't unfamiliar with anything. We ordered spicy chicken Szechwan and almond boneless chicken as our combination dinners, and a quart of my ever favorite wonton soup. My husband went and picked it up, so I can't comment on the experience but he did mention that the place was packed on Christmas Day! Thats a good sign. I think. Either everyone loves this place or it was their only option on Christmas Day at 4pm-ish. Anyways I unbagged all the food and everything looked delicious. One thing that immediately threw me off though was the presence of individually wrapped saltine crackers. I also noted that there was no package of crunchy wontons to go with my quart of soup. Reading further into the reviews it's apparent that this restaurant gives you saltine crackers with your soup and not crunchy wonton strips. Not a big deal, but yah it kinda is. I was bummed. Saltine crackers do not belong in Chinese soup. Next was the fried won tons. I LOVE fried won tons. I could make a meal of them on their own. Fried won tons and won ton soup are my loves. But from here, not so much. The fried won tons are just that "fried won tons". No filling, no stuffing, no pork goodness wrapped inside the won ton wrapper. It's just a FRIED WON TON SKIN. What!? I thought maybe it was fluke. Maybe it was just the 1st one .....or first 2. But by the 5th won ton it was the truth. No filling. Just fried won ton. I didn't even eat them. I was sad. The spicy chicken Szechwan was ok. I ordered it extra extra extra- yes I did in fact say "extra" 3 times, hot. It was only hot. Usually I can't even eat it because it melts my face off at some places, but here it was so not hot that my eldest was able to eat it no problem. I don't know, maybe they just play it safe with the heat level here. The almond boneless chicken was a huge disappointment here. It was all breading, and a ridiculous amount of it too. It was that super thick, super heavy breading with a ton of the cornmeal powder shaken all over the top. It was sooooo dry! Thank goodness it was easy to pick all the breading off, because well crap! This was our Christmas dinner- what else were we gona eat today!!?? Cold cereal? The brown gravy for the AB chicken was really good, just which the chicken was too. The won ton soup was just ok, the won tons and broth really lacked an flavor. The only thing that we all agreed on that we loved was the dinner rolls. Those sweet mini skyscrapers of delicious made us all "ooohhh and aahhhhh". The dinner rolls are worth a visit alone. Just order a dozen of these and call it a day!
I don't know if it was because it was Christmas Day and they were very busy that the quality/flavor lacked so much. They are by far the most expensive Chinese restaurant in the area, so between that and the poor 1st experience I've yet to return for a repeat visit. It wasn't awful but it wasn't anything I want to eat again any time soon. I will give it another try one day for lunch and see. -

I'll throw this in the hesitant to try category, there I said it, got that off my chest.
Now I will spend the rest of 2017 kicking myself for not going in sooner.
( local yelper Nikki raving about it pushed me in finally )
I was hesitant for a couple of reasons
1. There are probably 12 -16 Chinese restaurants in /near Shelby Twp.
2. There is nothing inviting about this place from the storefront
Well now Kwong Tung is 100% my Chinese carryout go to place, do not let the drab exterior scare you away as it did me for 2 years.
Called ahead from Riverbends park, and of course they said "10 Minutes.
Walked in 11 minutes later and it was bagged and ready along with 9 other carryouts.
Super friendly gal and the cook came out, i inquired as to was she the chef?
She said "Better than a chef home cooking for 40 years"
I cashed out and with all of the small talk, I left my black charge card on the black counter, but she saw it and returned it, and she laughed and said I was not the first to do that.
Got the carry outs home and unfolded the magic
Each entree was labeled #1 & #2 with corresponding gravies labeled as well #1 & #2
I ordered ABC and beef egg foo younge combos 2 for $21 , which seemed a little steep, until I opened and saw and then indulged
( check out the pics HUGE PORTIONS Fabulous Flavor )
I always order Egg Foo Younge as my test dish and faithful go to , I was concerned that 2 patties would not be enough, but I had my dinner and got leftovers out of it.
The choice was excellent, perfect patty with just a tad bit of char , creating nice crunch.
The fried rice was super and not oily or greasy
The gravy oh my golly molly the gravy!!!!!!
Included an egg roll and dusk sauce which was good.
I sampled a piece of the ABC and had to grab another right away
I tend to stay away from hyperbole
But
However
Furthermore
The BEST ABC I have ever had!
I do not have a clue to what kind of batter they are using, but the seasonings are great as is the crunch and the very moist chicken
It had a great taste I wish I could identity it , however it works, works very well!
Now I'm stuck as both dishes were above and beyond what I expected, how will I every be able to stray from them both and try other things?
In closing shame on me for avoiding it for over 2 years because of the strip mall store front.
Once inside and passed the tired lobby , it is decorated nicely in the infamous reds and gold and comfy, clean and well lit.
